Rehabilitation Programmes & Pricing

Rehabilitation Programmes & Pricing

At Pawsitive Relief, we do things a little differently.

Successful rehabilitation is rarely about one single treatment. The best outcomes usually come from a carefully planned combination of therapies, delivered at the right stage, in the right order, and adjusted as your pet progresses.

For this reason, following a comprehensive veterinary rehabilitation assessment with our dedicated rehabilitation veterinarian, we recommend structured rehabilitation programmes rather than asking owners to choose individual treatments from a menu.

This helps ensure your pet receives the right level of care, while giving you a clear plan, predictable costs, and ongoing guidance throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Programme pricing reflects integrated rehabilitation planning and ongoing support, and is more cost-effective than booking equivalent standalone appointments individually, while also affording greater clinical benefits for your pet.

Comprehensive Veterinary Rehabilitation Assessment

All rehabilitation programmes begin with a comprehensive veterinary rehabilitation assessment with our veterinary rehabilitation clinician.

These appointments are intentionally thorough and allow dedicated time to fully understand your pet's condition, mobility, comfort, neurological and musculoskeletal function, lifestyle, and long-term goals. They also provide time for detailed discussion, movement assessment, treatment planning, owner education, and communication with your pet's wider veterinary team. This consultation will include treatment with an appropriate modality on the day.

This allows us to create a structured, evidence-based rehabilitation pathway tailored specifically to your dog, rather than relying on isolated or reactive treatments.

Comprehensive Veterinary Rehabilitation Assessment (90-120minutes, including treatment on the day): £225 (inc VAT)

If your pet proceeds onto one of our rehabilitation programmes following assessment, £75 of your assessment fee will be credited towards your recommended rehabilitation pathway, helping support continuity of care and ongoing rehabilitation planning.

Prehabilitation (“Prehab”) Support

For many orthopaedic and neurological conditions, rehabilitation does not need to begin after surgery — and in many cases, we would actively encourage owners not to wait until after an operation to seek support.

Early assessment and intervention can help improve comfort, maintain muscle mass and mobility, establish appropriate pain-management strategies, and better prepare both you and your dog for the recovery period ahead. It also allows us to identify any compensatory movement patterns or additional concerns that may influence post-operative rehabilitation planning.

Beginning rehabilitation before surgery means you already have an established support system, tailored home advice, and a clear understanding of the rehabilitation journey ahead. Many owners find this early guidance reassuring during what can otherwise feel like a very overwhelming time. If you would like to speak to arrange a comprehensive rehabilitation assessment prior to your pet's operation, don't hesitate to contact us for more information.

Why We Use Programme-Based Care

Our programmes are designed to prevent fragmented treatment and ensure each pet receives care that is clinically appropriate, progressive, and consistent.

Rather than choosing individual treatments based on cost, your pet's programme is guided by:

  • Their diagnosis or presenting problem
  • Pain levels
  • Mobility and strength
  • Surgical or referral guidance
  • Neurological status
  • Response to treatment
  • Home environment
  • Owner goals
  • Long-term quality of life

This allows us to adapt treatment as your pet progresses, using the most appropriate modalities for their needs on the day, while keeping the overall plan clear and structured.

What Is Included?

Each programme is tailored to your pet, but may include a combination of:

  • Veterinary rehabilitation reviews
  • Physiotherapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Acupuncture or electroacupuncture
  • Laser therapy
  • Therapeutic exercise prescription
  • Strength and balance work
  • Home management advice
  • Progress monitoring
  • Owner education
  • Communication with your pet's wider veterinary team

Not every pet will need every modality. Your programme will be built around what is clinically indicated for your pet.

Insurance Claims

Many rehabilitation therapies are covered by pet insurance, depending on your policy and your pet's condition.

We are happy to provide invoices and clinical information to support insurance claims where appropriate. We recommend checking your policy directly with your insurer before starting a programme. Claims can only be made after a therapy block has been completed. We do not offer direct claims but will support you in processing your claim as needed. An administration fee applies for insurance claim processing to cover the clinical and administrative time required for preparation and submission of insurance documentation.

Standalone Appointments

In some cases, standalone appointments may still be appropriate, particularly for maintenance care or follow-up reviews after a structured programme.

However, for new rehabilitation cases, post-operative recovery, neurological cases, and complex pain conditions, we will usually recommend a structured programme to give your pet the best chance of meaningful progress. Individual pricing for modalities can be found here

Not Sure Which Programme Your Dog Needs?

Do not worry, you do not need to decide this yourself.

Following your pet's initial assessment, we will recommend the most appropriate pathway based on their clinical needs, comfort, mobility, and goals.

Maintenance Programmes

Our maintenance programmes are designed for pets who have completed an initial rehabilitation or active treatment phase and are ready to transition into longer-term supportive care.

We believe the best long-term outcomes are achieved when maintenance therapy is built upon a solid foundation of structured assessment, rehabilitation planning, and appropriate early intervention. For this reason, maintenance programmes are not typically offered to new clients without an initial assessment and treatment period.

This allows us to fully understand your pet's condition, establish an appropriate rehabilitation plan, identify which therapies are most beneficial for them as an individual, and ensure they are medically suitable for ongoing maintenance-based care.

Once your pet has reached a more stable stage in their rehabilitation journey, we may recommend progression onto a maintenance pathway designed to support long-term comfort, mobility, strength, and quality of life in a safe, structured, and proactive manner. Pricing ranges reflect the time allocated to your pets maintenance care in the clinic.

Progression to Maintenance Programmes

Following completion of an intensive rehabilitation or active treatment phase, many pets benefit from ongoing maintenance support to help preserve comfort, strength, mobility, and long-term quality of life.

Once your pet has achieved greater stability and no longer requires higher-frequency rehabilitation, we may recommend transition onto one of our maintenance programmes. These are designed to provide continued professional support while reducing treatment intensity appropriately as your pet progresses.

Maintenance programmes may be suitable for pet with:

  • Osteoarthritis or chronic pain conditions that are stable and not experiencing an active flare.
